Late Friday afternoon Jackson and I ventured to the Clark County fair to meet up with the Takahata Family. It's kind of a thing for us, I think we've gone every year since the boys were almost two...or was it one? We can't remember. We take the shuttle from the mall up to the fair grounds, it's part of the adventure. We met our friends inside, and after watching a juggler we ventured to the mid-way, where the real fun is...according to Jackson (who claims to have forgotten that the fair even had animals this year).
First the space simulator then off to this roller coaster.
Then the boys wanted to try the hanggliders...their first time they weren't in the same contraption, I shot this one later in the day. They LOVED it.
The boys still have fun doing the kiddie rides (or as Jackson called them the "cat" rides...you know kitty cat)
The older boys did this other ride...can't remember the name of it...where you go up, up, up and then around, then back again the other way.
Jackson wanted to do it a second time with me, for some reason carnival rides make me a tad nervous, but if a boy wants to ride with his mom, that's what this mom does. In fact, I kept telling myself what a good mom I was when I was on the Nitro, the one that spins in circles and swings side to side...oh goodness that was a little much.
Can't believe how these boys are getting so big. They are both turning 7 this week, trying big new rides, being brave and adventuresome, it's good to be almost 7.
We ate some fair food, watched the dock dogs, and found the barn animals. We heard big mama cows crying for their babies who were out of the barn, then we turned the corner and saw a brand new calf who had been born about 30 minutes prior...the Shermanator, wasn't even standing yet. Baby animals make my heart twitter...Jackson likes them too.
Then...yup - back to the midway for a few more rides. We said good-bye to our friends and Jackson and I did the Tilt a Whirl before we went to the Dairy Women's Barn for the fair's best ice cream.
Back on the shuttle and home by 11:30 or so...late night for sure, but that is what Saturday morning sleep ins are for. Another great day of memories at the fair, 2010.
