We spent a warmish late spring day celebrating our family. We served Mike breakfast in bed, we finally made it to the range to hit golf balls - long over due for all of us.
Then we had the time of our lives at the dump - we want to remind ourselves next spring that if we need to make a run to the dump Fathers Day is definitely the day to do it, it was eerily quite. Even the workers were finding ways to fill their time by putting some play ground balls under the tires of the big excavater and then running them over which made it sound like it was the 4th of July at our house! Mike reflected while we were there that Mothers Day was probably packed.
Mike relaxed at home while Jackson and I went to get his car detailed (Mike loves a clean car as much as I love a clean house). And then we had a great dinner and wondered why we ever go out to eat (which I will say is because sometimes meal planning falls to number 47 on the list of 76 things that need to get done on an average day). But when a good meal comes together we can hear angels signing from the heavens and rejoice. This dinner included hamburgers with roasted red pepper spread, fresh BBQ'd cob on the corn (as we like to call it), homemade cole slaw (a favorite that gets gobbled up in no time), and topped off with peanut butter pie and homemade vanilla ice cream (I couldn't decide what sounded better so I made both).
The boys played catch in the backyard, Stella chased the ball back and forth, there was laughter, and togetherness - what more could we ask for?
And a special note to an uncle that plays a special role in Jackson's life. My Uncle Bill has always taken a special liking to our little man. Jackson loves to visit Uncle Bill and Aunt Lorraine. Uncle Bill often has little jobs to do with Jackson and Jackson has learned where Aunt Lorraine keeps all the candy. They make special trips down to attend Jackson's sporting events, and we are so very grateful. They caught a great day this year, bright sun, good baseball and lunch with their favorite great-nephew. Thanks Uncle Bill for being a great man in Jackson's life, we love you!
