It's been a day. Tuesdays can be a little tricky for me, I try to go to the office; so get the kids off to school and child care, and then off to work. Today I had a meeting before I left for Portland and to end the day I was leading Jackson's scout meeting.
My meeting before I left for Portland was a roller coaster. Then I put my manager hat on to lead some discussions at the office. Then I transitioned home, picked up the cutest one year old and came home to a responsible 10 year old. I had some great giggles with Matteo before he conked out on my shoulder for a little over an hour. When we put it into high gear - dinner, and putting the finishing touches on the scout project in 30 minutes - CAN DO!
Packed up and out the door, and upon arriving at the scout meeting - realized Matteo pooped and in an epic mom move - I FORGOT the diaper bag! So my scout village would just have to deal with stinky Matteo buns.
Got into the school gym and realized I forgot components of our project - this is going well.
Luckily our scout boys are great and they went with it and we accomplished what needed to be done. And my fellow scout moms jumped in and helped with Matty - stinky buns and all. And because we didn't have a full group tonight - we got out early (that's my kind of scout meeting).
Home, Matty in the tub - unclogged the bathroom sink while Matty soaked. Fresh PJs, a bottle, a blanket and snuggle for the 1 year old and quietly down by 8:35. Whew.
Downstairs for a quick kitchen clean-up and poured a double margarita. Back upstairs to connect with Jackson again for a few minutes before lights out.
And here I sit, margarita, a macadamia salted caramel chocolate and a full heart. Thankful for people who are leading me, who are on my team. Thankful for amazing boys who fill my heart with a simple giggle and a "thanks for leading our scout meeting, mom". For friends near and far who keep me in their prayers and listen to my bitches. For scout friends who are part of my village.
I came across this thought this evening:
Never waste your time trying to explain who you are to people who are committed to misunderstanding you.
I'm committed to not wasting my time!
So at the end of this long day I have mommy work to do, I didn't get a lunch packed for Jackson this morning, and I have a toilet that still needs unclogging, but I am thankful for so much and looking forward to a margarita induced good nights sleep.
